June Newsletter
Hello everyone! In case you didn’t notice the last post, I’m updating on my website monthly at the moment. Included in each monthly update is art that I’ve completed in the past month, links to videos that I’ve created (timelapses or instructional videos) this month, art that I’ve put up for sale and that which will be going up for sale shortly, a description of the next monthly raffle and how to enter (it’s at the bottom if you’re antsy!), and any other artsy news.
If you like to see my work as it comes out or as I’m working on it, I post almost-daily on Facebook, Minds, and Instagram, and my videos will also be posted on my Youtube and VidMe channels. My original work is currently for sale on Etsy.
Thanks as always for subscribing and feel free to leave a comment or send me a message if you have any questions or just want to say something; I will do my best to answer.
Last Month’s Artwork:
April’s “theme” was Mountains, and I wanted to do a few more in that vein, but some of my larger ideas will have to wait, as I’ve been tied up with work and family stuff (on the other hand, I have a ton of mini-paintings to show off!). In any case, this is the mountain scene I did manage to complete, which is 20×20″ and has a thicker edge so it really stands out on a wall and looks very stunning! I wanted it to look like you’re coming out of a forest to see the hills and mountains beyond. This one reminds me of part of a few places in the Rocky Mountains (particularly in Colorado).

As I mentioned last month, I bought some 6×6″ canvases for a commissioned piece and loved how they turned out, so I went a little crazy this month with these little ones since I could only grab smaller chunks of time to paint than usual. One nice result of having less time was that I was able to try out different effects and different paints to see what happens before I try something new out on a large canvas. Also, one of last month’s raffle winners won a custom 6×6″ painting (“Black Beach” below).
The other raffle prize winner(s) was a 4th-grade class, whose teacher asked for a spacescape for their custom painting. Since I wanted all the students (22!) to have something, I decided to make mini paintings for all of them! I grabbed a bunch of 3×4″ canvases with mini-easels and just recently finished these, so they’ll be off to the class shortly:
I’ve also finished off another set of 50 mini-paintings (about 2.5×3″ blocks) for Art-o-Mat!
Since I was getting a lot of positive feedback about the minis and I realized that people might want to buy some mini-spacescapes, I decided to start making some of the 3×4″ canvas minis for my shop as well (okay, a skull painting may have also snuck in there, hehe)! With these, I had fun experimenting with new paints I received for my birthday (which was in May!). You can expect to see a bunch more of these as I try out my new paints!
Last Month’s Videos:
The following are videos that I’ve created in the past month (corresponding to the artwork shown above) in order by date (“Spooky Skull” was the video for the skull painting for my brother that I completed at the end of last month):
(1) Spooky Skull – https://youtu.be/aXLYn2MHfBM – https://vid.me/EePz
(2) Green Mountain – https://youtu.be/UX3ENCzEAUY – https://vid.me/ZfCZ
(3) Mini Spacescapes – https://youtu.be/y9JF4V78WOw – https://vid.me/j6yP
Obviously this past month was a bit slow in terms of videos since I did many more small paintings instead of large ones, but I have big plans for the next few months!
You can watch these as well as all of my previous videos on my YouTube or VidMe channels.
Artwork for Sale:
If you’re interested in buying any of my original pieces, they will often be available on my Etsy site a few weeks after they’ve been painted. If there is a piece that catches your eye that has not yet been put up for sale (such as any of the artwork posted in “last month’s artwork” above), feel free to send me a message and I will be happy to let you know what the price will be and you can have the chance to claim the painting before I put it up for sale officially!
This month, many of the small 6×6″ paintings have been listed in my shop, and the few that aren’t up there will be posted as soon as they are dry enough. Mini-spacescapes will also be listed this month, so keep your eyes open if you’re interested in a small or mini painting for your home or work desk or as a cute little gift. I’m very proud of these and I think you’ll like them too if you like spacescapes! And if you have any ideas for new mini paintings, feel free to send me a message and let me know what you’d like to see! 🙂
Here are some of the paintings currently available in my store (click to see more!):
Upcoming Raffle:
Every first Friday of every month, I will have a raffle, which you can enter to win something for free! This month’s raffle will be on Friday, June 2nd. Let me know which is your favorite for a chance to win one of these 9×12″ paintings! All you need to do to enter is to comment or send me a message on any of my social media posts, on my website, or directly to my email address (scenesbycolleen@gmail.com). I will check everything before deciding the winner or winners on Saturday. Good luck and thanks for watching! 🙂
