August Newsletter
Hello everyone! About a year or so ago, I painted a series of “bird” painting, and I really enjoyed the owls, hawks, eagles, and vultures, so I thought I’d focus on a series specifically around “birds of prey” for this series. These were a bunch of fun to make, especially when trying to play around with the more “hyper-realistic” vs the dreamy less-realistic pieces. I’m still trying to find a balance that feels right for me, but birds were a good subject for trying out a few things. These will be available in my Etsy store this Saturday, August 14, 8AM EST. The images below are just a little preview, but you can see more photos here on my website. I may also have one or two more before this Saturday, because I don’t feel quite “done” painting birds yet 🙂
[Update: two new bird paintings added – “Glare” and “Scowl” 🙂 ]
I’ve also been making a few mini paintings (the 5-6″ wide hexagons) every week on various other topics, which I started posting in early July. I show them here on the website up to a week before I put them in the store, on social media on Wednesdays, and they are available in my Etsy store every Thursday morning. I’m going to try my best to keep up this pace; it’s good practice and helps me get some of my other ideas when I’m focused on a larger series. 🙂 Here are the ones I’ve made so far:
I was recently contacted about turning a piece from my “forest” series a while ago into a three-piece larger painting. It’s also set up so that the three pieces could be rotated and still “match up” pretty well. I had originally set it up so that the path (the original painting) was in the center, and the two new pieces were on the sides, but I think my favorite orientation is with the path on the left side. In any case, this commission was a lot of fun. Here are the three pieces (in three different orientations):
If you’d also be interested in commissioning a painting from me, the easiest way to get in contact with me is through my Etsy shop.
I hope you’ve enjoyed all the art so far 🙂 The next series will be a little spooky (or spookier; I know I snuck in a couple of skulls with this bird series!) for the spooky season, and I’m pretty excited (and nervous) to see if I can pull off some of the ideas in my head. I hope you’re all having a lovely summer 🙂
