March 2018 Newsletter

March Newsletter
Hello everyone!  The monthly newsletter is here!  Included in each monthly update is art that I’ve completed in the past month, links to videos that I’ve created (timelapses or instructional videos) this month, art that I’ve put up for sale and that which will be going up for sale shortly, a description of the next monthly raffle and how to enter (it’s at the bottom if you’re antsy!), and any other artsy news.

If you like to see my work as it comes out or as I’m working on it, I post almost-daily on Facebook, Minds, Instagram, and Gab, and my videos will also be posted on my Youtube channel.  My original work is currently for sale on Etsy.

Thanks as always for subscribing and feel free to leave a comment or send me a message if you have any questions or just want to say something; I will do my best to answer.

March Plans:

Last month’s theme was “Oceans” and now that my Etsy shop’s “Creatures” section keeps dwindling, I’ve decided that I’m going to paint “Sea Creatures” this month to help fill that section back up.  Huge thanks to all you seacreature-loving fans that keep purchasing my art!

As a side note, since I’ve gotten a great response of the ships/boats that I’ve painted this month, I may paint a few more like that as well.  I’ll see what I can do!

Last Month’s Artwork:

Oceans!  Waves, boats, and beaches 😀  Tons and tons of space artwork!  Some are already in my Etsy store, and others will be up in my Etsy store soon.  (And a few have already been claimed!!!)  I plan to list new items in my store every Thursday, if you’re watching for something particular (though you can also send me a message or email me!).

I also finished off another set of 50 mini-block paintings for Art-o-Mat!  I’m now up to 950!  All 950 Art-o-mat blocks can be seen on my page here.  The last 18 in this set are sci-fi-movie-themed for Art-o-Mat’s participation at the RiverRun International Film Festival.  They are based on the movies: Alien, Wall-E, Star Trek (I prefer the early ones, but any Star Trek movie with the Enterprise works ;)), 2001 a Space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and Stargate.  Since people seemed to really enjoy the movie-blocks, I’ll probably be doing a new series (in addition to my space series) of sci-fi blocks!

Last Month’s Videos:

My full videos (and a few real-time clips!) are available on YouTube and Facebook, and short clips of the full videos and real-time videos are also available on Instagram.
Full videos from this month:

  1. Oil Painting Timelapse – Resilience Wave Painting
  2. Oil Painting Timelapse – Viking Longboat

Artwork for Sale:

If you’re interested in buying any of my original pieces, they will often be available on my Etsy site a few weeks after they’ve been painted – I will now be posting new items every Thursday.  If there is a piece that catches your eye that has not yet been put up for sale (such as any of the artwork posted in “last month’s artwork” above), feel free to send me a message and I will be happy to let you know what the price will be and you can have the chance to claim the painting before I put it up for sale officially!

Of the artwork shown above, about the first 3 are already listed in my store, and 3 more will be listed tomorrow.

I have just been notified that I have been officially accepted as an entrant to the Fredericksburg Arts & Crafts Fair on April 7th and 8th, so stop by the Fredericksburg Expo Center (in Fredericksburg, Virginia), if you’d like to see my art (and me!) in person 🙂

Upcoming Raffle:

Every first Friday of every month, I will have a raffle, which you can enter to win something for free!  This month’s raffle will be on Friday, March 2nd.  Let me know your favorite of these three for a chance to win one!  All you need to do to enter is to comment or send me a message on any of my social media posts, on my website, or directly to my email address (scenesbycolleen@gmail.com).  I will check everything before deciding the winner on Saturday.  Good luck and thanks for watching! 🙂
