April 2019 Newsletter

April Newsletter
Hello everyone!  The monthly newsletter is here!  Included in each monthly update is art that I’ve completed in the past month, links to videos that I’ve created (timelapses or instructional videos) this month, art that I’ve put up for sale and that which will be going up for sale shortly, a description of the next monthly raffle and how to enter (it’s at the bottom if you’re antsy!), and any other artsy news.

If you like to see my work as it comes out or as I’m working on it, I post almost-daily on Facebook, Minds, Instagram, and Gab, and my videos will also be posted on my Youtube channel.  My original work is currently for sale on Etsy.

Thanks as always for subscribing and feel free to leave a comment or send me a message if you have any questions or just want to say something; I will do my best to answer.

April Plans:

This month’s theme is DRAGONS!  I’m much more partial to dragons being terrifying creatures, so I’ll probably be painting some fun creepy dragons or fire-breathing dragons or fun stuff like that.  I haven’t painted a lot of fantasy creatures, so I think it’ll be interesting to see if I can figure out how to paint them “realistically” as well.

I’ll also be back to painting some commissioned pieces – I’m sorry to those who have been waiting!  Feel free to contact me if you see something you like and have a neat idea (or if someone snatched something up before you did – I might be willing to make another like it just for you).

Last Month:

I have moved to the mountains of New Hampshire and have finally set up an area where I can paint (though lighting is always tricky so it may be longer before I can make videos again) – so I think I can now say I’m a full-time artist! O.O

Since last month was very busy, I kept myself to just painting miniatures (the largest was the last one, at 5×7″).  Since I painted whatever came to my head, there’s a few “different” ones in the mix.  😉  Enjoy!

Artwork for Sale:

If you’re interested in buying any of my original pieces, they will often be available on my Etsy site in a week or two after they’ve been painted – I post new items every Thursday.  If there is a piece that catches your eye that has not yet been put up for sale (such as some of the artwork posted in “last month’s artwork” above), feel free to send me a message and I will be happy to let you know what the price will be and you can have the chance to reserve or claim the painting before I put it up for sale officially!  About half of the minis from last month have already been listed in the shop, and most of the rest of them should be listed this Thursday.  Some have been reserved, but if you reeeeeally liked a reserved one – let me know and I will probably be willing to make you one like it 🙂

Upcoming Raffle:

Every first Friday of every month, I will have a raffle, which you can enter to win something for free!  This month’s raffle will be on Friday, April 5th for one of these three (framed, about 8×10″) charcoal drawings I made a few years ago.  While I mostly paint now, I also love drawing with charcoal, and I had white charcoal pencils and black paper and just had a good time drawing some “spooky” things.  I thought that some of you might also like to have a little spooky drawing for yourself, so I thought it’d be a nice raffle 😉  All you need to do to enter is to comment on which is your favorite or send me a message on any of my social media posts, on my website, or directly to my email address (scenesbycolleen@gmail.com).  I will check everything before deciding the winner on Saturday.  Good luck and thanks for watching! 🙂
